| Repair flight simulation instruments used
in simulated space flight, i.e., take-off, landing, and
navigation. The primary functions of this laboratory are
to assist NASA and its support contractors in
development, fabrication, modification, and maintenance
of man-spacecraft interface instrumentation. Such
instruments are primarily electrical/mechanical
and technical hardware. W de Y's support to this effort
includes assembly and testing of wire-wrap and printed
circuit boards, small enclosure fabrication,
interconnection assembly as well as other tasks
resulting in an operational breadboard or prototype
hardware item. |
| The Program Operations Office, NASA/JSC
contracted W de Y to perform the servicing, maintenance,
logistics, documentation, scheduling, operational
support and other associated support of the Shuttle
Program Flight Crew Equipment Pre-packing Facility. This
effort included the coordination, project engineering,
and operational support required to provide in a timely
fashion all preflight exercises such as loose equipment
availability, flight crew review of stowage items and
procedures (bench review), pre-packing, shipping, and
others. Performed post-flight hardware handling,
including inventory of hardware returned from Orbiter
landing sites, dispositioning of hardware inventory,
logistics tracking input data to account for hardware
locations, and certain hardware processing for
pre-flight. |
 |
| The Data Processing Systems Division (DPSD)
contracted W de Y to support elements of the Mission
Support Directorate Division, which was responsible for
the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance
of JSC's Ground-Based Data System, including the mission
Control Systems, the Crew Simulation Systems, the Earth
Resources Systems, and other comparable systems. This
effort, managed by the Ground Data Systems Division (GDSD),
was responsible for the implementation, configuration,
and operation of the JSC Mission Control Center (MCC)
Complex, computer programs required for mission control,
and for implementation of hardware and software systems
support of application-type data processing such as
earth resources data processing and medical data
processing. |

| The City of Houston Communications
Project contracted W de Y to develop and recommend a
comprehensive and integrated plan of action to enhance
the communications capabilities of the City of Houston.
The main focus of this effort was to identify detailed
systems requirements and to develop a design that met
the stated requirements: to develop an overall
"blueprint" network, including a comprehensive
implementation schedule to develop and issue bid
specifications. W de Y recommended vendors capable of
implementing the City's communications network on a
cost-effective basis. |

 |
| In support of the Mission Operations
Support Contract (MOSC), the Applications and Analysis
Support Contract (AASC) as well as the Special
Instruments Laboratory (SIL) Contract, W de Y had
responsibilities for a wide range of Data Management
functions related to the Engineering, Technical, and
Administrative Support Contract (ETAS). |
| Constructed computer-run decks from
customer input data and determined proper parameters
based on program documentation. W de Y installed changes
into existing program decks and incorporated related
documentation changes. Planned workflow for large-scale
computers and associated equipment to ensure proper
setup, operation, schedule compliance, and fulfillment
of customer requirements. Analyzed computer runs for
quality control purposes and investigated problems
related to failure of programs to process through high
speed, large scale computers, diagnosed types of errors,
and made recommendations for correction. Conducted
liaison with customers, programmers, operations, and
production management on matters related to processing
schedules and assigned systems problems. At times was
required to provide records and other documents
pertinent to resource accounting, using both manual and
automated methods. |
| Assisted others in the planning and
establishment of master schedules and related estimates
as required. Operated remote scope/keyboard terminals
for data input/output to management systems. |
 |
| W de Y provided administrative support
services for the prime contractor in data entry,
clerical and library functions, data dispatch and
distribution, and tape and disk transfers, both onsite
and offsite. |
 |
| W de Y had the responsibility for
administrative processing and controlling technical
correspondence and other documentation which were
required in monitoring NASA's technical support
contractors. |
